How to hire me
Hiring me is very straight-forward, but first you need to do your part.
To save you time and money, you need to give me as much information about what you want as possible. Before contacting me it's important to be clear on the following points:
1. Who is your target audience? E.g. Professionals/students, young/middle-aged/senior citizens, well-off or on-a-budget.
2. Type of job? Website copy, brochure, newsletter, sales letter, copy edit.
3. Objective? Generate new sales, improve brand awareness, educate, inform, entertain.
4. Writing style? Formal/conversational/quirky - this may depend greatly on your target audience.
5. Word count? You may know the number of words required. This is not essential but helpful in producing a quote.
Along with answers to these key questions, any other information about your company or project will assist me in creating your copy as quickly as possible. Some clients tell me about key benefits of their product after I've completed the first draft - this unnecessarily raises the cost.
While I relish larger projects, my ethos is to accept jobs of any size - so even if you need someone to copy-edit a small amount of existing copy, I'll be happy to help.
How it works
1. You send me details of your needs and we discuss via email or telephone.
2. Once I receive an email from you formally hiring me, I begin writing.
3. I send you a first draft for you to go through.
4. You identify any alterations to the text.
5. I can re-draft up to a maximum of 4 times within original quote until you get the copy you need.
This is not a rigid process, but it usually works like this. I will of course make further changes at no extra cost - within reason, naturally.
